Our
experts waved their magic wands and transformed two very presentable young women
into women for all seasons
Avani
Dewan
Avani
works with a radio station in Ahmedabad. She has to be at the radio station well
before her listeners' radio alarms go off. Having to literally wake listeners
with cheery chatter does not leave Avani much time to pay attention to her
appearance, and then, as she says, "after all, it is radio and not TV, why worry
about make-up?"
Avani
chose three looks for herself - a workday look, a semi-casual look and a formal
evening look. During Neeta Lulla's session, she had discovered that rich jewel
colours enhanced her skin tone and made her feel confident. She chose
brightly-coloured clothes and light jewellery from Deepak Jewellers'
collection.
For
the makeover:
For
Avani's daytime, professional look, the hair stylist smoothened her somewhat
unruly hair with serum. Avani chose to leave her hair open rather than tie it
back. A bit of styling created a soft frame for her face. Make-up for Avani's
fair skin had to be subtle. She had ditched her glasses for contact lenses and
her eyes were lightly lined to bring out their sparkle. A glossy lip colour
echoed the blush on her cheeks. Once Avani slipped into her red jacket and
white pants, she was ready to face the camera - even for a television
show!
For
the formal looks, the make-up artist deepened Avani's blusher and placed a red
and white 'bindi' on her forehead. Avani's hair was curled and pulled back into
a ponytail adorned with flowers.
Avani
was quite impressed with herself! She felt that her personality change was
complete.
Shruti
Chhajer
Shruti
is a bubbly young thing, with amazing charisma. She is a confident young woman
who knows how to dress to impress.
Yet
Shruti felt she could gain bonus points by joining the Femina Circle of Success.
Given to wearing casuals most of the time, Shruti preferred to keep her look as
close to natural as possible. By the end of the workshop though, she walked with
more confidence, exuding a visible magnetic charm.
For
the makeover:
Shruti's
hair was naturally soft and wavy, and because she was growing it long, the
stylist decided not to take any steps to trim or shape it. Instead, conditioning
products were used to lend her hair more manageability, giving it new form and
shape.
For
her more casual looks, make-up was kept minimal and natural. A peachy-orange
blush brushed onto the apples of her cheeks gave Shruti a warm glow, while
depth was added to her eyes with eye-liner. Nearly nude lip colour and only a
hint of blush completed the look.
For
her evening look, Shruti chose a richly-worked ensemble; make-up was applied
to reflect the richness of the clothes.
Soft
red eye-shadow was stained on the lids and blended under the brow. Shruti's lips
were darkened and her cheeks were contoured to make her face look more mature. A
dusting of fine luminous power added a delicate sheen to her face. By the time
Shruti had put on her jewellery, she was glowing.
"I
think I should dress up more often!" was her parting shot, as she swept out of
the room, ready to face the camera.
