Revitalise
your family life with a shot of spontaneity. By Raksha Bharadia
BOREDOM ranks high on the Richter scale of
relationship-quakes. Boredom is that place where we begin to detest the
sameness, the monotony in our lives. We as a race have an incorrigible love for
variety (which inevitably brings excitement). The challenge is to seek variety
while still maintaining security, to have wings but not let go of the
roots.
We have to put on our creative caps, set some time aside, and
be ready to create our very own Harry Potter kind of life...
Play The Games Of
Life...
Fun and play are natural, excitement-generating,
self-rewarding processes that have been used since centuries by children. Since
the child remains in all of us, why not resort to games and add a dash of
difference to our relationships? You can opt for any outdoor or indoor games.
Lay down a scrabble board and arm yourself with a dictionary; for the artistic
and agile, there’s Pictionary.
For the ones with a commercial
disposition, it could be a round of Monopoly or Stock Market; for the
conquerors, checkers or chess; the adventure seekers could try their hands at
Life. A plethora of board games is in the market, pick one which will interest
all of you, roll up your sleeves and be ready to battle on the boards with your
partners for the evening.
Energetic excitement seekers can try
dribbling a basketball; blind man’s bluff will be great fun for the kids;
other family members can join in too. Ball games with interesting rewards to
the winner from the losers could add to the thrill. ‘Antakshari’, or
a quiz on the family’s favourite singers, will hold a music-loving family
enthralled. You could also have Sunday specials of cricket, swimming or simple
games of family hide-‘n’-seek or a round of pillow fights. Sharing
strengthens relationships; sharing excitement will make them so
interesting.
