New
In Needlework
First, there was
Botox. Now, there is Faux Tox. Made by DDF - Doctor's Dermatologic Formula, the
product is now being called Wrinkle Relax(r) (though we think the name Faux Tox
was smarter!).
It's
described as a combination of two non-toxic anti-ageing peptides, chemically
combined from naturally derived amino acids. The manufacturer promises that
daily application of the formula increases collagen and elastin production,
preventing you from ageing prematurely. So now, you can smile and frown as much
as you like, without wrinkling and yet, without losing expression.
By the way, Lancome
researched facial expressions, and found that on an average, we make 15,000
facial movements
daily!
Take
Your Feet In Your
Hands!
Shimmering nail polish,
chapped heels... not a pretty picture. We all know we should be moisturising and
exfoliating our feet regularly, but really, it's hard to think of your feet when
you're on your toes all day long.
Solutions?
Plenty of simple ones:
•
Keep
your nails trim. Cut them straight across - experts recommend keeping them just
about two to three mm long.
•
Take
a clean, rolled-up piece of towel, and buff your toenails with it once or twice
a week. Buffing improves circulation, smoothens ridges and gives nails a natural
sheen.
•
Whenever
you have five minutes, rub some oil or cream on those tired feet, and let them
soak in warm water. Dry thoroughly with an old hand towel, coaxing out dead
cells - this works as a mini-exfoliation.
•
Apply
foot cream last thing at night, then slip your feet into all-cotton
socks.
•
For
stressed skin and nails, try a Vitamin E-based cream. Rub the cream thoroughly
into your cuticles, pushing them gently back with your fingers. Within a few
days, you'll notice how soft and supple your feet look.
And
Now...
An electric comb! The new
LaserComb sends low-power laser light coursing through your scalp, stimulating
cells and improving hair condition, say its makers, Manhattan's Juva Skin &
Laser
Centre.

Bright aquamarine or
lime-coloured eye-shadow, paired with steamy pink lipstick, is the flavour of
the season in New York. Created by make-up artist Regina Harris, the look is
completed with lush black mascara to emphasise the
green.
Three-Day Mascara:
Revlon has introduced its ColorStay Overtime Lash Tint, which 'darkens and
defines lashes for up to three days without smudging, smearing, or flaking,'
according to the company's press release.

Imagine
that you, fully clothed, are being sprayed with 36 water jets for a relaxing
massage. Then you get up and walk right away, without a droplet on your clothes.
Possible? In fact, it's now being done. A new contraption, called The Aqua
Massage, works with a waterproof barrier that shields your clothes but reaches
out to your tired muscles for a soothing experience. Curious? Check out more at

Grab
A Shot Of Wheatgrass
Just 15 ml of
the green stuff has as many vitamins as 1/2 kg of broccoli. Also, wheatgrass
juice prevents tooth decay and stops hair
greying!
Café
Call
Avoid drinking coffee before
a waxing treatment as it makes your skin more sensitive. To lessen the pain, eat
a banana - it's high in potassium, which helps desensitise nerve
endings.
Breakouts
On Your Jawline?
Does this happen
on one side of your face more than the other? If so, and it's the side of your
face on which you rest the telephone, your receiver could be the cause. "Many
people don't realise how often they're on the phone, how much bacteria the
handset harbours and how close it comes to their cheeks and chin," says Sreela
Mehta, Mumbai-based facial
expert.
Solution: Clean the
phones you use - including your cellular phone - on a regular basis with a
disinfectant spray or rubbing an alcohol-soaked towelette. Wipe down the phone
you use at work at least every other day. "Changing your pillowcase, which can
contain pimple-causing germs, also helps," adds Mehta.
