ROHIT
BAL
The
Look:
Uhhuh! Just young and stylish.Brimming with colours on white and
neutrals, Rohit’s menswear rocked. Men with brawn, spears and chunky belts
over lungis burst out as a start (total impact!) followed by men in trousers and
jackets in all shapes and sizes. Bandgala kurtas (very Rohit) with embroidery
and hand-painting were also on
show.
We Liked:
The Indian and Western fusion with a streak of creative insanity. Imagine safety
pins on pants? Rohit seems to have a way with them too, loads of them were lined
up to make motifs on white linen (interesting eh?). Paisley prints on bright
silks as linings under white jackets looked
attractive.
Creative
Touches:
Madhubani, seashells, multicoloured tassels and
mirrorwork.
on slim and structured
shapes.
The
Verdict:
For the umpteenth time he breaks the barriers of design, and
this year brings parts of Asia home for our men. Few pieces were not very
India-friendly or prêt though (we are talking about the furs and quilting
in Indian weather, and the shaped metal frames as pockets on
trousers).
