The Rhythms Of Life

Work with your biorhythms for a happier life. Biorhythmist Anupam Kapil tells Sameera Moledina how the knowledge of biorhythms can aid in avoiding disasters.
IN the cycle of life, there are moments when one is not able to understand the reason for certain sudden happenings. "From the moment of our birth, we set into motion a series of rhythms that continue their individual courses until the day we draw our last breath; these are called biorhythms," explains Pune's biorhythmist and celebrity astrologer Anupam Kapil. From the beating of our hearts (approximately 76 beats per minute) to the 128-day life span of the red blood cell, there exist the other three discernible rhythms we classify as biorhythms, which have an effect on our lives with inescapable power. Biorhythms predispose, they don't predict. Once you get the critical dates, you can apply remedial measures using astro-numerological advice for risk prevention.
Using Biorhythm Cycles
Biorhythms are internal cycles from within the bodies that reflect our potential. They help us in understanding ourselves as well as others, and avoid aggravations and even accidents. Biorhythms are the three natural, regular cycles within our bodies, which affect us physically, emotionally and intellectually. An individual's physical cycle is 23 days long and regulates physical strength, energy, endurance, sex drive, confidence and ambition. It is related to the autonomous nervous system and the flow of melatonin. The emotional cycle is 28 days long and shows the ups and downs of emotions, reactions, sensitivity, affection, depression and is more dominant in women.
The intellectual cycle is 33 days long and governs intelligence, memory, intellectual ambitions, mental alertness, intuition and logical thinking. By being aware of the 'caution' days, one can reduce stress, avoid accidents, illness, irritation and frustration.
The Compatibility Factor
Marriages with either very high or very low physical biorhythm compatibility tend to be dramatic and short lived. If couples have more than 90 per cent emotional incompati-bility, they may experience enormous differences. However, even 100 per cent emotional and physical compatibility may not be enough to prevent a divorce if physical compatibility is low. The best basis for a marriage biorythmically is for all three cycles to be just over 50 per cent compatible. In many marriages, the couple turns out to be compatible in only one cycle. While the marriage may survive, it may not be wholly satisfying to either partner. Good decisions are often made when the biorhythm sequence is two highs and a low, or all three are high.
Avoiding Disasters
Accidents correlate with a caution day in the physical or intellectual cycle or when the biorhythms are exceptionally low. On physical caution days, one tends to lack confidence and might take refuge in alcohol and drugs. Suicides resulting from long term unhappiness or mental unhappiness occur during intellectual, emotional double caution days. Emotional idiosyncrasies happen on intellectual caution days. Heart attacks and strokes occur on a double caution day in the physical biorhythm, combined with a low emotional biorhythm. On emotional caution days, one is very vulnerable on the emotional front. Double caution days make one feel chaotic, uneasy and even self-centred. On an intellectual caution day, one is slow and often inaccurate, hence important decisions and surgeries should be avoided.
Calculating Biorhythms.
Biorhythmists use a chronological age table to calculate biorhythms in a particular month or year, which is depicted on a biorhythm wheel.
Though it is a complex procedure, it can be simplified. For example, if a person is born on November 8, 1972, then he is in the 32nd year in 2004. On the table showing the 32nd year, looking horizontally downwards in the column, you notice the figures 20 (physical), 5 (emotional) and 32 (intellectual). Now the cursor on the wheel with four layers is taken to your birthday. You must now see from the table how many leap years you have passed after your birthday. Seven leap years have elapsed after 1972 (birth year), so minus 7 from November 8 and you get the date as November 1. Now you have to align the above values for the physical, emotional and intellectual with the corrected birth date, ie November 1.So you bring the cursor to November 1 and align the values 20,5,32 below this date and you get your biorhythm cycle. Of course, the interpretations require a highly skilled expertise as there are broadly 27 main biorhythm combinations.
On Your Own
You can calculate biorhythms by following certain formulae. Here's how to go about doing it:
1. Take your age at your next birthday and multiply it by 365 (the number of days in the year). For example, if you will be 38,then it will be 38 x 365 = 13870.
2. Add the number of leap years you have lived through from the time of your birth to your next birthday. Eg, if it is 10, then it will be 10 + total from step 1 = 13880.
3. The emotional cycle is obtained by dividing the total by 28, leaving us with the total of 495.7.
4. The physical cycle is obtained by dividing the total so far by 23, leaving us with 21.5.
5. The intellectual cycle is obtained by dividing the total so far by 33, which leaves us with 0.6.
Now you can think of a 38-year-old, whose birthday is, for example, on May 24.The emotional will go into positive on May 21st, using the remainder of 0.7 to work forward from the birth date with. The physical will go into positive on May 19th, using the 5 remainder to find this. The intellectual will go positive approximately on May 18th. When you have calculated these three cycles, you can work out your biorhythms for the rest of year simply by counting the requisite days for each cycle forward or backwards, depending on which direction you plan to go
