Backstage
with MAC at the Spring-Summer show and... surprise!
There's
a look for every skin tone and fetish this year - from ultra-chic glamour queen
to cool porcelain-princess.
But
let us tell you about the main changes in trend this year. Tans are no longer a
must-have... cool and natural skin tones are the order of the day. Warmer tones
are creamier, more even and there is no need for the baked-on-the-beach look for
skin anymore.
Transparent,
nude and subtle... put those words away for this season. 2005 brings in vibrant
colours and the look is bold and fearless female fatale!
We
show you some looks that you can lift off the catwalk:
The
City or Urban Tan
(Seen
at Carolina Herrera, Bill Blass, Roberto Cavalli, Clemnts Ribeiro and Vivienee
tam)
It's
all about the eyes here, so go all the way with your eye make-up; lather the
mascara, the more the better. The skin is paler than pale and looks protected
from sun and surf. Wear just that sliver of gleam on your lips.
For
the perfect finish for your lips - pat on some concealer, dust your lips with
powder and then coat it with MAC Lipglass. The powder worn under the gloss will
stabilise the colour.
Papillon
(Seen
at Baby Phat, Frost French, Blumarine, Tata Naka)
As
the word suggests, this is all about colour. The metamorphosis is based
completely on bold colours for this summer's extravagant night make-up.
MAC
Tip: Get colour saturation without heaviness by layering eye-pencil under a wash
of eye-shadow colour. This gives the eye-shadow depth without losing
lustre.
Saturday
Night Diva
(As
seen in D-Squared,Raphael Lopez, PPQ, Iceberg)
This
one is for all the Page 3 celebs! High glow and perfectly polished skin with a
line of white inside the lower lid; this is the look for the professional
all-night party girl. Full of lush products, her eyes are loaded till the
lashes, her lips a molten invitation, and her darkly lined eyes replace the
smudge of last year.
MAC
Tip: Sex up the eyes with Fluidline in Rich Ground on a base of Amber Lights up
to the brow, use Pigment in Gold liberally and also to spotlight the inner
corners. Use Zoom lash mascara for really sweeping thick lashes, or if you
prefer slather on the fake flutterers. Lipglass must be C Thru to set off the
eyes. For the face contour your cheeks with NW45 Studio Stick Foundation SPF15,
Powder Blush in Prism and Sheertone Blush in Pink Swoon.
Ethnoglamour
(Seen
at Antonio Berdardi, Preen, Chole)
Savage
yet sophisticated, the look is best described this way. The look is sun
burnished but never red or sweaty... a look that goes well with turquoise, coral
and amber. Inspired from tarnished tribal anklets, even the neutrals in this
make-up palette appear rich in tones of amber, cinnamon, brick and henna.
MAC
Tip: Try SPF15 Moistureblend Foundation in NW45 just where the sun naturally
hits the face, thus keeping the highlights and not making the skin look
flat.
