They
Spread Colour
Applique circles spill onto a
tiny top; an elegant salwar-kameez billows over a fitted churidar - these are
some of the styles Bandhej works on. Started by Archana Shah, a NID graduate,
the label has been around for the last 20 years. With over 500 craftsmen working
under its umbrella, the label also creates hand-woven, hand-dyed and
hand-painted fabrics in bright colours.

Watch
Swatch
These wrist
decorators from Swatch are trendy. Starting from Rs 2,000, the collection has
toon characters (who said they're only for kiddies?), graphic designs, classic
fabrics, and glitter and glass floating on the straps. Also, we love the way
they always present their products - with graphically strong brochures and ads.
It's worth it, we say. What say
thou?

Modernity
With Tradition
Ten years of
experimenting bears fruit after all. It started with two craftsmen and oodles of
creativity. Today, Meetu Kohli has a team of 25 skilled artisans (including
block printers and machine and hand embroiderers) working for her. She designs
embroidered salwar-kameez and lehengas in myriad textiles. Her boutique Damini,
in Chandigarh, is all about a perfect harmony of modernity and tradition. She
recently had a sell-out sale of her collections at the Femina Bridal Show held
at the Taj Palace in New Delhi.
