/photo.cms?msid=46272934 Simple chic was her style, till make-up artist Prabir Kr De decided to change that. Koel Mullick gets zingy for Femina

She shares the spotlight with Bengali actor, Ranjit Mullick, as his daughter, that is. A psychology undergrad, Koel is articulate, beautiful, graceful and spontaneous. She is blessed with a natural star appeal, and no way can you miss it, her five foot two inches notwithstanding. With her face as canvas, we decided to create a masterpiece. And to boost her style, we got Kyra to help with her clothes and accessories.

This time round, Prabir kicked off his makeover routine first with hairstyling. He used a straightening iron on her shoulder length hair and combed it out with a middle parting. Curling tongs helped muss up some of the hair in the front.

/photo.cms?msid=46272935 Hair done, he proceeded to cleanse her face and neck with a Clinique cleanser. We all know that base is where the big difference is and Prabir got it right with the Dermalight skin tone base, topping it up with some MAC translucent powder.

Her eyes got a touch of bright with MAC silver eye shadow, while a brown YSL pencil was used to draw out the corners of her eyes and a black to line the lower eye lids. Like they say, no eye make-up is complete without a touch of kohl. A Body Shop smudge brush helped blend the brown pencil strokes into the skin.

Clever use of a highlighter can work wonders, and that’s what the Chambor skin tone eye shadow did; it helped illuminate her eyes without overpowering the effect of silver. For Prabir, “A hint of silver works rather fine, adding sheen without an overdose of colour.”

/photo.cms?msid=46272936 Her rosy cheeks blushed a shade of light peach. For a low-key but luscious look, her lips were lightly lacquered with a blend of peach and pink. No lip liner, “it would have killed the simplicity and alluring innocence in Koel’s look,” according to Prabir.

To sign off, Prabir opened out Koel’s curls and applied some styling mousse to her black, shiny hair, letting it cascade over her shoulders.

In keeping with the mood of the day, Koel’s image did a stunning rollover — from the girl-next-door to a woman going places.

“I have never looked this glamorous before,’’ said Koel, pleased with the trade-off.
