rejuvenating bath salts, luxurious lotions and the latest colours for your face,
hair and nails — there’s a lot of buzz in beauty this
fortnight!
A Head Of
Trend

FUTURE Elements is the title of Joico’s Fall/Winter 2003
Collection of hair colours. Sandstone, slate, silver, gold, copper, ruby and
amethyst are Joico’s colours of Fall. The richness and sensuality of the
hues are incorporated in Joico’s colours.
Graphic elements and
natural lines found in crystals, prisms and diamonds provide inspiration for
application and cuts. The results are fragile and modern. Combined with
Joico’s styling products, the techniques create style with internal
volume, external jagged shapes that exaggerate style on fashion runways, but are
flexible enough to be interpreted for daily wear!

The collection is divided into colours of the three elements. For
Earth, there are soft shades of granite, sandstone, slate and silver. For Fire,
there are tones of red rock, liquid golds and rich coppers that produce an
intense and brilliant colour palette. Atmospheric shades like amethyst, deep
purple and ruby reds are bold, exotic and Air colours. Joico’s colour
range is supported with a post-colour care product range.

Elbow
Out Those Dark Patches

SO, you’ve been desperately rubbing those elbows with sugar
and lime in the hope that one day the dark patch will go away and your arm will
look less like an Ostrich’s neck and more like a swan’s?
Here’s some help: Nomarks has launched an elbow cream that
promises to solve this ugly predicament. With active ingredients like aloe,
ruscus, lemon peel and bearberry, the cream removes the dark pigmentation around
the elbows.
A premium product, the Nomarks Elbow Cream is priced at
Rs 75 and comes in a 25 gm pack. The cream performs in three stages —
first, it moisturises, then improves the blood circulation around the elbow
area, exfoliates, and finally, whitens by restricting the formation of
melanin.

The
Femina-Nina Ricci Makeover

One Italian man and over a dozen beautiful Indian women! The
combination is cataclysmic — specially when the Italian man holds brushes
in his hand and the latest colours from Nina Ricci’s
Autumn-Winter colour collection. International make-up artist from Nina Ricci,
Cesar Caocci, worked his magic in two cities — Mumbai and New Delhi at
events hosted by Femina and Nina Ricci for select invitees and Femina
subscribers.

The ‘Prècieuses Patines — the 2003 Autumn
Collection’ make-over held at Vasant Continental Hotel, New Delhi, and The
Taj Inter Continental, Mumbai drew much applause. Cesar won over the audience
with his demonstration. As the name suggests, it was an autumn palette from
rusts, browns to moss greens in both eye and lip wear.

In Delhi, nodding their heads in agreement to Cesar’s
flawless demonstration were fashion designers Anusuiya Sahdev Sikka, Poonam
Bhagat, Kanwal Toor, art promoter Divya Seth, artist-dancer Nupur Kundu, former
Femina Miss India beauty queens Shruti Chauhan, Ritika Frey and model Ramneek
Paintal, among others. Ritika Frey, the first to come under Cesar’s brush,
emerged very happy. “I love the look he has given me.” Shruti
Chauhan shared the same sentiments. The choices available were enough to spoil
even the most critical make up artist.

In Mumbai, Cesar created the season’s look for singer
Somshukla Das. The styling, done with in the Vert Suedine Fume harmony was
watched closely by the city’s leading corporate women and beauty
fashionistas like — Sunita Bangard, marketing head for
L’Oréal Consumer Products Division; designer Nahid Merchant and
beauty journalist Meher Castelino. Select Femina subscribers also checked out
the new Nina Ricci colours and textures on display.

A
Whitening Oil!
AS if the fairness industry was not burgeoning
already with creams, lotions, skin treatments, and what have you, we now have a
fairness oil! Chakola Ayurvedics have launched, what they claim to be the
world’s first fairness oil. The oil is based on ayurvedic medicine and is
a blend of natural ingredients like saffron, aloe vera, sandalwood, red
sandalwood, turmeric, etc.
Also known as ‘Kumkumadi
Thailum’ (an oil that is already used in very small quantities in some
fairness products) now comes in its purest form. The oil claims to remove scars
and dark circles.
Apply the oil, leave it on for at least an hour and then
wash it off with a mild soap or gramflour (‘besan’).
Available
in 50 ml and 100 ml packs, it’s available across the
country.
Fruits Of The
Forest
FOREST essentials products during the Namaste India Show in
Milan created quite a buzz. These ayurvedic products launched recently use
age-old formulations and involve Vedic scholars and ‘vaids’ from
Tehri Garhwal. Usually, Ayurvedic products are messy to use and aromatically
challenged. So, Forest Essentials has decided to create classily packed
Ayurvedic products that smell fragrant and work well.
