Make It Up

OATMEAL AND ROSE MOISTURISER Take half a cup oatmeal, half a cup distilled or spring water, one tablespoon honey, rose petals or essential oil of rose.
Soak half a cup of oatmeal in one-and-a-half cups of distilled or spring water. Strain the oatmeal through muslin, squeezing hard to extract the milky liquid. Add a tablespoon of warmed honey, and mix well. Soak rose petals in this liquid in the fridge for a day or two or just add enough rose oil to scent the mixture.
Apply with a piece of cotton wool before you go out and take the scent of roses along with you.
NATURAL EYELINER For a natural eyeliner, free of chemicals, buy a pure charcoal pencil (black only) at an art supply store. Dip it in water or Vit E oil to apply!
MINTY LIPGLOSS You’ll need: 90 g almond oil or olive oil, 15 g beeswax, two tablespoons honey, three to four drops of your favourite essential oil. Most people use peppermint oil for badly chapped lips.
Melt all of the above together, stirring constantly. When thoroughly mixed, pour into a mould and let it set. Use it when cool and watch your lips blossom!
FLAVOURED AROMATIC LIP SALVE Take four tablespoons coconut oil, half tablespoon finely ground cloves, half teaspoon turmeric powder, one tablespoon ground hibiscus petals, two tablespoons of beetroot powder, two teaspoons beeswax, essential oils of rose, orange and frankincense.
In four tablespoons melted coconut oil, add the cloves, turmeric, hibiscus and beetroot powder. Allow this to soak for about 10 minutes.
Then, in a small pan, melt two teaspoons of beeswax on low heat. When just about melted, strain the coloured coconut oil through a fine hand sieve into the melted beeswax and stir until everything is blended well. The mixture will begin cooling as you stir.
But even when fully blended, it should still be a bit warm to the touch and not solidified yet. Now, add five drops of rose oil, three drops frankincense, and one drop of orange oil to the mixture. Gently stir and then pot up in a small glass or porcelain container or a salve tin. When you use this, mash a few black grapes and apply the juice over this salve for a flavoured lip balm!
Use it over your favourite lip colour for really tasty lips!
