NAHID
MERCHANT
The
Look:
A little bit of Nahid and a little bit of dare. There was plenty of
organza and white lace, and some daring new innovations that made one sit up and
take notice. Essentially a see-saw between romantic and dreamy, and bold and
saucy.
We
Liked:
A black and grey multi-panelled skirt, and other skirts of the
voluminous ilk, that combined colours and textures rather interestingly. Can be
worn with just about anything. Appliqué panelled pants in pastel colours,
the brocade hot pants, (oh so hot!). A beige and black dress
‘winged’ at the back with an embroidery
panel.
Creative
Touches:
An angavastram-style tie-back top in black silk, with brocade
and embroidery squares and oblongs on it made for a breathtaking effect.
Wonderful for teaming with a skirt as Nahid did, but could also be worn very
effectively with a
sari!
The
Verdict:
Here is an example of a designer who has grown from being
tentative into someone with a distinctive style. And found a way to blend her
past with her
future.
