High On Colour

Get designer Sabina Singh's unique and charming style
She's hot, she's cool and when she wants to look different, she paints on her clothes, makes and wears sequin-studded slippers, or pins a flower or two in her hair! "My style is kitsch and Bohemian," she says."I go for colours and drama. I basically love mixing quirky things with luxe items."
Sabina started her designing career a couple of years ago when she did a hundred pieces for Melange. "I was shocked when the range sold out!" she quips. She creates clothes, slippers, bags, 'batwas' (pouch bags) and clutch bags.
She Shops From: Designers like Anshu Arora Sen, Aki Narula and Aparna Chandra. Also, buys from flea markets in Bangkok and London (Portbello Street Market). "I'm not too much into brands. I mix 'n' match separates."
You Can Shop For Her Clothes At: Oak Tree, Fuel, You, Melange, Ishna - Purple Porcupine, Galleria and Cyprus in Mumbai; Ogaan and Kimaya in Delhi; Seven and Melange in Bangalore; Strip in Hyderabad; and Sosa's in Goa.
She Loves:
• Bangles from places like Dilli Haat and little shops.
• Earrings in various shapes, colours and sizes.
• Fish and home-made Indian food ("I'm a fishetarian!").
• Reading (she recently read and loved 'Bridget Jone's Diary - The Edge Of Reason').
• Helping her hubby A D Singh (owner/partner of 'Olive Bar & Kitchen').
Her Recent Buys:
• A flamenco skirt by Aparna Chandra from Ishna - Purple Porcupine, Mumbai.
• A black asymmetric evening top from River Island, London. "Earlier, I used to avoid black as I loved only bright colours. But I guess with age, one sobers down and that's what has happened with me. Today, I opt for black as well!"
