Shubhra Krishan

Got a lazy weekend? Indulge yourself at home with a rejuvenating spa treatment. Shubhra Krishan leads the way
The scent of rose petals. A sparkling flower drink to refresh your tired mind. The exquisite sensation of fatigue leaving your feet as you relax in the facial chamber. All-natural packs working their magic on your dull, chalky skin. And at the end of a blissful hour, that long-awaited compliment from the mirror...
For those lazy weekends when you crave for all of this but cannot seem to will yourself out of the house, Suparna Trikha, the lady behind Aaveda, a plush salon in New Delhi, suggests an at-home treatment that will put the glow back on your skin with utmost ease. This exquisite and really easy facial is especially designed to rejuvenate thirsty, dry skin.
Here's What You Do:
Create the ambience : To look good, you must first feel good. Light some aroma candles, dim the lights, and put on some music. Set the mood for an hour of total self-indulgence. Make a checklist of the essential ingredients you will require for the treatment close at hand, so that you don't have to scurry for them once you've begun. Now sit in a comfortable position. Take several deep, slow breaths to ease any pent-up tension, and you're all set!
Clean: Just like you weed a lawn before sowing new seeds, you need to clean your skin before you set about making it glow. To clean, simply apply some good quality olive oil all over your face and neck. Then wipe it off with a clean, moist cotton pad. Olive oil not only removes impurities, but also gives your skin extra nourishment.
Massage: Next, massage your face with honey. Gently, slowly, treating the skin's surface like you would treat delicate silk tissue. Continue for 15 minutes, in light, circular movements. Honey is an excellent 'humectant', which means it seals in essential moisture, restoring youthfulness to your look. Besides, the act of massaging relaxes muscles and improves blood flow, relieving stress, headache, and pre-menstrual syndrome.
Relax: It feels truly wonderful to irrigate every cell and tissue of your being with the magic of water. Pour some pure mineral water into a tall glass, spike it with lemon and honey, and sip slowly.
Or, brew up some bliss-promoting or calming herb tea. Try chamomile. These all-natural drinks not only quench your thirst, but also send the toxins scurrying out of your body.
The result: You glow from the inside out!
Refresh: Now give your skin a refreshing cold compress with a soft cotton pad dipped in rose water. Or, you can also spray rose water on your face for a lovely wake-me-up feel.
A tip: Refrigerate your rose water for 15 minutes before use.
Nourish: Got mayonnaise? Bring it out and slather it all over your face. For tightening, add the white of an egg to the mayo. Keep this pack on for a few minutes, and then wipe off with a clean, moist cloth. Hold on,a more beautiful treats await your skin yet!
Pamper: Take a rose - the freshest and cleanest you can find. Grind its petals in a mixer, and mix them with a teaspoon of milk. Massage gently over your face, and wash off with cold water. In addition or instead of this fragrant rose paste, you can also apply a Vitamin E capsule or almond oil (which is another extract of Vitamin E).
Voila!
Step before the mirror.
Enjoy the difference.
