Turn me off!

Madan gives you a checklist on what men DON'T want to see on women...
As
far as we're concerned, inner beauty is still the strongest pre-requisite. But
just like you have a list of things that you would never want to see on men
(make-up, pot-bellies, etc), men have their own list. Things that make them
squirm. Maybe sloppy and unshaven works for him on him, but it might not work
for him on you. The question is, do you care? It's not like he'll suddenly start
loving you less just 'cause you've sprouted a few facial hair. But he obviously
doesn't like it. And he's entitled to his opinion, which is precisely what we
asked for in this piece. Here's what a few guys said...
Facial
Hair
"I
dislike facial hair on women, it looks so un-feminine," says ace lensman Dabboo
Ratnani. "It's in-your-face and looks unclean. My only recourse is to clean up
the close-up shots with Photoshop." But what does he do in real life? "Look the
other way."
If
you care: Pluck 'em off. Bushy eyebrows? Tweeze, bleach, wax, singe - do
whatever it takes to get rid of furry facial growth. If you don't care, tell him
to go soak his head.

Droopy
Locks
"The
unwashed hair look puts me off completely. Inner beauty is true beauty, agreed,
but dirty hair and the unkempt look speak of poor hygiene somehow," says haute
couturier Haresh Shah. "Smelling fresh and looking clean is vital."
If
you care: Go in for a cut that suits your face and personality. An unbecoming
hairstyle does you in, completely, despite the diamonds and designer garb you
might flaunt. Actually, a great haircut gives you a great boost... so you should
try this anyway, not for any guy!
Furry
Limbs
Hair
on men looks good. "Unwaxed legs and arms on a woman look terrible. Women are
meant to be soft, warm and fresh smelling," says actor Sanjay Suri. All said and
heard.
If
you care: Clean up when you wear clothes that show your underarms or legs. We
don't know what it is but even Julia Roberts lost quite a few die-hard male fans
when she appeared at an awards function without getting her underarms done. For
them, sooty long lashes work; dense overgrowth on the female form doesn't.
Bad
Dress Sense
"I'm
not perfect either. So I think it's unfair for me to expect a woman to have a
perfect figure. But a lousy dress sense combined with a terrible figure: That's
a complete downer," says entrepreneur Ashish Nangia.
If
you care: If you have a huge behind, wear clothes that conceal the bulges and
highlight your assets.

Molar
Malaise
"Oral
hygiene is priority No 1 for me," says painter Aakarsh Singh. "Women, especially
smokers, with bad breath and yellow teeth make me run far, far away. Inner
beauty notwithstanding."
If
you care: Don't ignore dental hygiene. But hey, you should be super careful
about this in any case. Dental floss, whitening toothpastes and dental visits
are a must. Flashing your pearlies won't work with tartar-riddled teeth. For
that matter, lipstick-coated dentures are a criminal folly, on or off the
camera.
At
the end of all this... ask yourself what your best assets are. We did ask them
what they think, but ultimately, it's your will that rules you. And hey, no
one's perfect....not you, not him.
Body
Odour
"I
like my woman smelling of flowers and fresh lime," says marketing guru Vishal
Dhume. "Freshly shampooed hair, a tangy talcum, body lotions and creams. That's
what gives a woman that edge. And an entire industry thrives on and caters to
women care, so there's no reason why a woman shouldn't smell good."
If
you care: Sweat-slicked bodies after you've just made out may get him going, but
smelly underarms are equivalent to farting, digging your nose and belching.
Probably puts him off completely. So, keep misty sprays and deo roll-on sticks
handy. And while you're at it, tell him to do the same.

Tattoos
And Pierced Body Parts
"I dislike tattoos and body piercing of any kind on my woman," says actor
Parveen Dabas. "They just put me off completely."
If
you care: Don't get one. Simple. Body art isn't everyone's fetish anyway. And
some guys cringe at the sight of pierced body parts. Well, each one to his own
and her own!
Unkempt
Hands And Feet
"A
woman's hands must feel soft to the touch. I dislike scaly, rough, spotted,
uncared-for female hands," says writer Anil Thakraney. "It doesn't matter if you
are short or fat but it is awful if you cannot take care of the basics - your
hands and feet." Point taken.
If
you care: Go in for regular manicures and pedicures. Chipped nail polish, grubby
toe talons, chewed fingernails, cracked heels... it's shocking how most men and
women will not notice a new outfit but will zero in on these
imperfections.
III-Fitting
Bras
"Shapeless
breasts don't compliment a woman. If a woman cannot take care of this most
important aspect, can she manage anything?" asks media-man Kinzal Vadera.
If
you care: Identify the problem. Okay, so you're virtually flat chested. Or maybe
you have a bigger problem: You could give Dolly Parton a run for her money. But
are you wearing the right sized bra? Swell fitting cups with properly hooked on
straps give you a new level of confidence.
