Sunidhi:Femina Platinum Woman
[FEMINA ]
/photo.cms?msid=43570672 As spirited as her songs, as emotional as the movies she sings for, and as driven as her contemporaries, singer Sunidhi Chauhan is a Femina Platinum Woman.

We think Sunidhi Chauhan is a Femina Platinum Woman because:

# She’s a workaholic and believes her music is an all-consuming passion.
"I am nothing without my music. I wouldn’t even say it’s my voice. My life is music. I am addicted to it. I might die if I don’t have music."
"And I never get tired of music. I’d never want to be. My work is what keeps me alive. Apart from my husband, it’s the one thing that is most important to me."

# When she won the Lata Mangeshkar trophy for Best Female Artiste in 1997, Sunidhi was more excited about meeting Lata Mangeshkar than winning.
"I was euphoric that day! I had always wanted to meet her, touch her, and feel the person who is probably the greatest inspiration to any singer! And I cried when I did."

# She has immense will power.
"When I was recording for Mast , I was supposed to initially sing only one song. And two days before Ruki Ruki was going to be recorded, I lost my voice. The doctor told me that if I wanted to sing, I would have to keep a maun vrath (a vow of silence) till the recording began. That was really tough. It meant that I couldn’t even warm up and had to rest my voice right till the minute recording began!

At the studio, they told me they’d only record the low parts first. I didn’t have energy for the high parts, but I recorded them in just one take!"

# She doesn’t give up easily.
"Before Mast , for two years I just sat at home. I didn’t get much work. Then I met Sonu Nigam and it was because of him that I got to sing for Mast ."

# She’s super emotional and not afraid to show it.
"I think I am honest when I show my emotions but I know it’s my weakness, too, because I have no control over them. But I believe how will you know love if you don’t show it without holding back?"

# She leads a transparent life.
"I am an open book. I leave myself open to the world. The whole world knew when I married Bobby. I have never hidden anything, never felt the need to. You only hide things when you are afraid or ashamed."

# She’s taken some incredibly hard decisions at a very young age.
"My family disowned me when I married Bobby. It was not a decision I took consciously. You don’t plan to fall in love. It just happened that way. But in the process, I lost a very precious relationship - my sister. To say I miss her is not enough. I feel incomplete without her. It hurts that a relationship I thought was so strong could fall apart so easily. Perhaps, I loved her more than she loved me. How else do I explain it?"

# She has the courage to move on.
"If I keep crying, I can’t work. Earlier, being torn from my family would make me cry at the drop of a hat, but now I am a lot better. I can’t be moping all my life. I still keep calling them, but they continue to ignore me by not taking my calls. I’ll keep trying. But I don’t cry any more."

# She is sure of her decisions.
"I may have married early, but I know I didn’t marry the wrong man."

# She makes friends easily.
"I am a good judge of people. And when I like someone, I forget all their flaws and my friendship is unconditional."
