Travel guide-turned-author Jill Yadav
has led a life with amazing shifts. By Reshmi Chakraborty
HE was an
illiterate driver from rural Haryana, she, a long-divorced mother of five grown
kids. She had an upper middle class British upbringing.
He had
hardly ever read a book. Jill and Yadav (whom she never calls by his first
name), now together for more than seven years, discovered a bond when they first
met 13 years ago. It has kept them together despite drastic differences in their
backgrounds, doubts, sceptics, an initial long-distance relationship, cash
crunches and relatives.
When it comes to an unlikely life, Jill
Yadav’s has all the ‘masala’ of a movie. It’s been
chronicled in her book ‘Yadav — A Roadside Love Story’,
published earlier this year. But what’s more interesting is the author
herself. She’s funny, charming and alarmingly honest.
