A few husky laughs and
crazy quips from the ‘super good’ girl of Bollywood — Rani
Mukherjee
‘Chori
Chori’:
made me realise that I am a funny person. I thought my
friends were just kidding when they used to say I’m a really funny person,
but when I saw this film, I laughed the loudest. Call it modesty or call it
boasting, but when I saw ‘Chori Chori’, I was laughing at myself.
Having a funny bone:
Humour
is a key factor in any relationship. Everything else — good looks or sex
appeal — eventually fades
away.
Ajay Devgan:
Kajol’s husband! That’s what immediately comes to mind (laughs).
He’s been an absolute professional and has been quite helpful as a co-star
too.
Bollywood:
My life! I
cannot take ‘Rani the actress’ off me completely. I owe a lot to
her.
Rani ‘the
tomboy’:
I’ve always been very close to boys, they feel like
I’m one of them when they meet me. They can discuss anything under the sun
with me, even their women. And I really enjoy their company because at times, I
feel men can also be very good bitches. Much more than women.
Media gossip:
Not in good
taste!
Living in the public eye:
It’s a very small price to pay for your stardom! With the kind of love,
adulation and respect that you get from people through your films, this is not
something to complain about.
Hypocrisy in Bollywood:
To each
his own! People who indulge in such practices must be feeling that that’s
the right way to handle their life, but for me, hypocrisy is a total no-no.
Tricks of the trade: Be sincere and honest. That’s what’s
worked for me so far.
Sex
appeal:
Me!
Quirks:
I
can’t have people look at me with one eye, like, if somebody is rubbing
one eye and looking at me with the other, then I have to make them shut both
eyes and then look at me. It’s a superstition. I feel we’ll end up
having a fight. In fact Shaad (Ali) used that in ‘Saathiya’.
Male hotties:
Shah Rukh Khan
and Tom Cruise.
Male sex
symbols:
I think they’re great! If you have the body, flaunt
it!
Fears:
God.
Rani the ‘real’
person:
I cannot take ‘Rani the actress’ off me completely.
I owe a lot to her. She has given me name, fame, adulation and respect.
When I am Rani, the normal person, nobody will give me a second look. But yes,
when I am Rani Mukherjee, I get a lot of respect, a lot of love. Maybe I love
Rani, the actress, more than Rani, the
person.
Love:
Purity.
Relationships:
Romance. If you are sincere, yes, it
lasts.
Item numbers:
Are
great fun! There’s good music and it makes you want to dance. So
they’re great to have on your tape recorder. If you could change your sex
for a day, who would you be: Maybe I would like to see what it’s like to
be a man. You know, see what it’s like to be able to flirt easily with
women, to be a
‘charmer’.
On the
anvil:
There’s ‘Calcutta Mail’, Mani Ratnam’s
next film, ‘Hum Tum’ with Saif Ali Khan, Aamir Khan’s
‘Rising’ with Ketan Mehta, and of course, Sanjay Leela
Bhansali’s
‘Black’.
One crazy thing
yet to do
: Party all night long on the
beach!
Rani in a nutshell:
Super good!
