Shop-Hopping
Abroad
It's
therapeutic, fun and a must-do when travelling. Nitya Alwani-Satyani explains
the whys and the hows
Shopping
has always been a woman's weakness. And most of us would agree that the only
thing more pleasurable than shopping is - shopping abroad! The lavish malls, the
designer brands, the impeccable quality, the trendiest styles, and the
well-dressed shoppers - everything spells sheer t-h-r-i-l-l.
And
with the great deals that airlines are offering these days, it costs almost as
much to take a trip to some of the hotspot shopping destinations like Dubai,
London, Kuala Lumpur, etc as it does to travel within the country. (As if we
really needed that excuse!)
So
naturally, 'taking a shopping trip' has become the new 'it' phrase. Walking down
Fifth Avenue in New York, Oxford Street and Bond Street in London or Orchard
Road in Singapore in the crisp cool weather with shopping bags in your hands is
enough to give you a high. Shweta, who often travels and shops abroad, says, "I
find shopping trips therapeutic. Whenever I've found myself heart-broken,
between jobs or travelling, shopping is the only thing that lifts my spirits and
makes me forget my worries."
